Pavers settle and heave when the base is rushed. We excavate to the right depth, install and compact a gravel base in lifts, screed a bedding layer, then lay, cut and edge the pavers with polymeric sand in the joints. Patios are sloped away from the house and can tie into steps, walls, turf and lighting.

Matt was very knowledgeable about what materials are permitted by Vancouver bylaws and was reliable and punctual during their busiest season. His team was also able to replant cedar trees that had to be excavated before the installation, which was great. We are very happy with a backyard that is much more functional for our family. They installed a basketball court, added paving stones and decorative rock, flattened the backyard for better use, and put in artificial turf in the front.

Matt was professional, easy to work with, and really took the time to understand what we were looking for. He listened carefully to our ideas, offered helpful suggestions, and helped guide us toward better choices that suited our needs.

One thing that really stood out was how reliable and communicative he was. He showed up when he said he would, always kept us in the loop about the next steps, and welcomed our input along the way. He even went above and beyond by doing a few extra things for us that weren’t originally planned, which we really appreciated.

Frequently asked questions

Pavers or concrete — which is better?

Pavers flex with ground movement and individual units can be lifted and replaced; concrete is one slab with a lower upfront cost. We’ll walk you through both at the site visit.

Will weeds grow between the pavers?

Polymeric sand in the joints hardens and helps keep weeds and ants out. Occasional top-ups keep it performing.

How soon can I use my new patio?

Usually within a day or two, once the joint sand has set, depending on weather.

Do you also install porcelain pavers?
